Tandem Cycling - Adjustable Tandem Stem

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
My wife and I finally got our used custom Bushnell. The fit is as good as I had hoped for; we should be able to dial it in perfectly after fixing the stem lengths.
I was wondering if there was anybody out there who would be willing to loan or rent a telescoping stoker stem so that we can find the right length for my wife. The current 18cm is too short. Once we figure out what will work best, we can ship it back and buy an appropriate length stem for keeps.
Oh, and here's a link to my blog post about our bike.

I've adjusted the cranks per tandemgeek's advice (thanks again), so that I am not forcing my wife to do more work.
Thanks!
Tommy
Do you have the sizes beyond the 18cm?
I don't know the seatpost size of your bike, which is important. Also with the new large diameter bars it seems you need know if you have a 26.0mm, 31.8mm or 25.4 Mtb bar size.

Tommy will need to confirm, but if memory serves the Bushnell uses a 27.2mm seatpost and a standard ~26.0 handlebars.

Why not just settle for a telescoping/adjustable stoker stem?
Sorry for the belated reply. It seems that TandemGeek is correct. All though I can barely make out the writing on the seatpost, I thinkit says 27.2. something .2 anyway. The handlebars are 26.0. None of the telescoping stems I see on the internet are the right size, so at this point I'm willing to try longer stems that are not telescoping. Maybe a 20-22cm.

To my knowledge 20-22 cm stems 'off the shelf' do not exist, so you'll have to have one made. Besides that: Zoom make a telescoping stem that's something like 22 cm. at full extension.
Alternative: have a new insert made that goes into a telescoping stem or use a 'classic' stem that goes into it. It'll look something like this:
Thanks for the help, that's what I needed to know!

Control Tech adjustable stoker stem would work for you, shim on seatpost, goes out to 230mm+, clamps 26.0 bar, bet you wouldn't need a shim for 25.4, but if you do, something very thin would do the trick.
