I'm doing a research project testing lactate threshhold and power output. In my background search and on this forum I'm seeing research by someone named Groves (discoverer of the lactate shuttle) that says lactate is a fuel. I always thought it was the enemy - or is it both? Anyone know if lactate is a fuel at low intensities, but at higher intensities it remains a fuel but reaches a point where it shuts the muscle down? Thanks.
