Northern California - Looking For a Quality Bike Painter Here in Northern California???

Hi All

I'm looking for a quality painter here in Northern CA. Does anyone have any recommendations? I just received my Seven ti frame and I thinking about maybe getting it painted if I can hook up with a quality painter with a reasonable price. I'm looking at Joe's Bicycle Painting in Watsonville, CA http://www.joesbicyclepainting.com Has anyone used this painter at all or any painter that you recommend in the Northern CA area. I'm based out of the Stockton/Sacramento area if anyone has any advice.

I've heard nothing but good about Joe's. His prices are good too. There is another painter in Chico I think though I don't recall their name. They do powder coating as well. Contact Kimo at Innerlight Cycles and he can forward you their info.

I've used Maas Brothers to strip and coat an old Trek mountain bike frame. I love the job they did, and the price was reasonable (I think about $100). They masked everything well and the powder coat had held up really well for the past 4 months. There was a divot in the job first time and they took it back and redid it.

Cyclepath in Hayward arranged the service for me; they hooked me up with Maas Bros. and were great help too...

Two come immediately to mind.

1) Dr. Deltron, right here on Bike Forums, is in the Moterey area and is very good.

2) Ed Litton is in Richmond, and is also very good.

Check 'em out. You'll be hard pressed to get a better paint job anywhere.

Bigbossman and I both have personal experience with Ed Litton, and both of us were very pleased with his work. (A big plus is the chance to see Ed's workplace - it is an incredible collection of stuff to make any C&V fan drool with delight, and Ed is happy to tell you about it.)

I do not have personal experience with Dr. Deltron, but bigbossman does, and so do some other BF'ers, and I have heard only good things. And having seen what the Dr. did for BBM, I can only conclude that the good reviews are warranted.

Like I said before, you will be hard pressed to get a better paint job with either one. Prices are not the cheapest out there, but their prices are reasonable and what you get is well worth what you pay.

My reco is for Maas in Livermore for powder coating. They do good work. Just drop off your frame, sans parts and they'll do the rest. When you go to their shop they'll have two walls of aluminum beer cans painted in all the colors they can do.

I would look into power coating if I didn't have a carbon fork. Since this is a road bike it is carbon up front. I found the site for Litton, but couldn't come up with anything Dr. Deltron. You guys mentioned these two a couple of times and I'm also thinking about taking a trip to Watsonville to talk to Joe at Joe's Bike Paint. I have a Seven frame I just got and I'm looking to do a two color scheme leaving the chain & seat stays ti finish. Any more advice or recommendations would be welcome.

Yup, all I did was stripped the frame of all parts - BB, headset cups, h2o cage bolts, derailleur hanger and clean off some dirt and dried mud. Maas will do ALL the frame prep - chem clean, media blast, mask and plugging. So easy peasy....

They paid $125 for a single color w/ media blasting.

I considered doing that to my Univega but cheaped out and went a different route.
