Northern California - Turkey Ride?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Just wondering if anyone has time for a ride on Turkey day? Or does everyone have to do that family get together thang!

We're looking to do some kind of ride, and then eat out. One kid will be with maybe-future-in-laws on the East Coast, the other working, so we can not cook for family for the first time in 28 years. er, :thumb:
What do you have in mind?

I'll have my kids in the morning, then they head over to my ex's at lunch time. I'd be game for an early afternoon kind of ride.

Will be riding around Morro Bay with my brother & parents.

Which day Ron? On Turkey Thursday?
I've been given approval to ride in the AM on Thursday, and have yet to climb Diablo this year.
Diablo sounds fun, but for me, it would have to be an early start.

Will be down in L.A. (Rowland Heights) and possibly Vegas. I was hoping you were going to be down in L.A. and maybe we can get together for a quick climb early Thursday morning. Hmm.....
I'd love to, but it would have to be here in the Sac area. I have cooking to do for my family. We don't have any family on this side of the country, so it's just the 4 of us. But we still do that big dinner thing.

Anyone know if you can use bullhorn handle bars for the LKHC?
I might ride up on my TaxiBike Thanksgiving.

You can use any bike you want.
You should put single speed in the catagory section when you sign up (It's not a real catagory... but it shows up next to your time in the results list... juts so people know that time was done on a SS).
We are doing the Low Key on the tandem.
It's not a real sanctioned race, and it has a very laid back type of organization. But, many not laid back riders :thumb:
I'm riding the Cal Pedaler thanksgiving ride in the AM in danville. Bout 300 or so people. mass start. starts out civil and ends in hammerfest. somebody always gets pulled over for running a light.

Didn't MsIncredible do a version of this? Only she did San Bruno instead of Sierra Rd.
Sounds like a nice weekend plan. Now to find the time for it....

Hermes and I are doing the Mount Hamilton Low Key Hilll Climb as well - but we will be on our singles. Looks like there will be a good NorCal Bike Forum showing! We did this last year - I think this is now becoming a Thanksgiving Day tradition.

I think Bossmans route was the bomb, ron...especially the finale with Pizza!:thumb:
Or do you want to risk getting lost with moi?If you start in Walnut Creek, heed this warning: That stupid town has two major streets off of Ygnacio Valley Road called Walnut. You want Walnut Avenue, not Walnut Boulevard.

Diablo?
MyLilPony is trying to hit her mileage goal for the year. Maybe I can trick her into thinking his would be an easy way to get a few miles in. After all, half of it's downhill!

Sort of. A friend of mine has two spaces, so I'll probably drag out a few bikes and see what happens.

You still can. :) My house is on the way to Diablo, and you can leave it on the porch or hand it off to the wife. Or, I can give your her cell and she can meet you at the start point.

I'm going to miss all the weekend/holiday rides - just too much stuff with the kids going on. If riding consistently is the key, I'm in serious trouble! I will probably sneak a ride in on Thursday afternoon, but that's it.

I'm tempted with Diablo on Saturday...but I'm painfully slow on climbs...what was bbm's route? Up the South or the North side? What time?
Oh, and Thursday, I'm planning on doing the Cantelow loop from Davis, if anyone wants to connect with that. Where's Niko??

BBM's ride was starting at Bart Station at Pleasanton, going from the south side up. If no one steps up, I still have the route from motionbased.com. I'll convert it to a bikely map.
