Get stuff with a long shelf life. At this point you really need to look out for #1.
60 bucks is 60 bucks. Use it to buy food you will eat and food that will keep.
yeah - buy staple food with long shelf life. If you wanna 'spread the wealth' :innocent: you could always slip a lil something to a street person or two, 'Happy Thanksgiving' sort of thing.
I just braved the cold to deposit my paycheck (which is long since accounted for in its entirety) ... saw a homeless woman with a dog sitting on the cold concrete. I really wish I wasn't so broke right now.:(

Rice and beans are good calories for your buck.

Well in that case, maybe you could just stock up on some energy bars and convenient snack type products. Did you decide where you are moving to?
find a food pantry and ask them to meet you at the grocery store. Give them the card to buy what they want and then get them to drive you across town.

If that food stamp card is not used, the money goes back into the system to be redistributed to others. So don't feel pressured to use it up if you cannot find a use for it.

You realize that using food stamps dishonestly is like stealing from the government and us taxpayers? Bottom line, if you want dr. pepper, get your own money!
But hey, before long we'll all be on food stamps, living on the great american plantation, where no one works and all are nourished by welfare, under the sovereign rule of Mr. president elect.
and yes im exagerating for effect.

best point so far. Why not grab good stuff that will keep and is easy to carry, and whatever funds you don't use won't really be wasted.

Buy a bunch of peanut butter, shove it in a flat rate box and mail to your new addy.

elf is that YOU? WHERE IS ELF AND WHAT DID YOU DO TO HIM???

yes they do.
I live in a nation where I know people with depression who get disability. I have had to argue with people on my way to to work, after i had a seizure so i could get up out of the ditch and go to work.
(different occasion)
and leave the hospitial after the emt's lost my glasses and ride my bicycle to work after having a seizure,
do not start with me, i have little sympathy. and i am a tax payer
i have been the emergancy room 31 times this year. and have been left to lie in the ditch more times than that. thats why i would give it to a homeless person
you def. should look out for yourself right now, c0urt, but your attitude is one we all should have. Thank you:)
and I'm truly sorry...it sounds like this has been a very tough year. Hang in there.

Hey, i have political views too.
I do apologize though, i wasnt aware of your financial troubles.
I just feel its wrong when someone bums money off the government just because they can.

that's actually another great idea, if you can afford the postage. Flat rate is good assuming the box is big enough, cause food will weigh a lot. Priority mail would be high without the flat rate box.

There are two flat rate boxes, one more squarish and one more rectangular. The rectangular one would be better for this, I'm guessing the width would fit 18oz peanut butter jars perfectly. Even if you just get beans and rice, it's $9.80 to ship the box and I am certain you can fit more than $10 worth of beans and rice in it, way more than that if you send PB.
I use flat rate boxes frequently. I get free shampoo, toothpaste, and things like that and send flat rate boxes as full as I can fill them for the price of postage. Cheaper than someone else buying the items full price, especially if I throw in a few razors.
that's cool - I have a hard time finding them here, and the sizes I have seen are very small....again, a good option to consider and worth getting the boxes.

AND! They bum money off of us EVERYTIME we get paid just because they can!

They keep the flat rate boxes behind the counter here. With Christmas approaching I need to go get 4 or so of each size to send out boxes of stuff. You can get the box and buy the postage at the same time, then just drop it in a mailbox since it's flat rate.
I wonder if I can just put enough of the forever stamps on it to equal the shipping cost and drop it in the mail... Do not like going to the post office. :)

There's no middle ground here, once you fall off the cliff there is no way back up, and before you know it you're senile.
Ramon noodles - 6-10 for a $1 and much lighter than canned food.
so back to my usual nice self.
this really happened today.
I lean my weight forward and lock my heels together. Then listen to the back tire as it skids across the pavement.
I lock up the back tire and come sliding up perfectly to the line at the traffic light. I was unneeded as usual, but, it was fun. I think showing off is probably the entire reason I ride a fixed gear sometimes really.
Then I hear my name being called. Which is really surprising. Considering there are really only a handful people who should know me on sight. Those people are mostly coffee shop rats and firefighters. Then I look around, and spotted in an ambulance two slots behind me Emt’s leaning out, waving, and calling my name. You gotta have friends I guess.
But I was struck right then. Do you really want to be on a first name basis with the local emergency response crew. And know that you are on that basis because of how many times they have cleaned you up, from bleeding out of random ditches.
bump since i cleaned this up
