Bicycle Mechanics - Need STI Parts

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Stupid me - I bought a pair of Ultegra STI shifters, but they did not come with the
Clamp Band Unit ( 23.8 mm -- 24.2 mm)
Clamp Nut & Washer
These names are from shimano's website. These are the clamp bands which attache the shifters to the bars. Doh!
A - Where can I buy some?
B - Does anyone have spares which could be salvaged from an otherwise inoperable shifter?
Thanks, John

There is a place in, I believe Seattle, that sells recycled parts, maybe recycledbicycles.com. You might try them. Loosescrews.com or bikepartsusa.com might have the clamp bands, but other STI parts are hard to come by because the shifters are not designed to be repaired. My LBS tells me there are very few parts Shimano will sell them. Basically, if an STI shifter goes bad during warranty, it goes back to Shimano for replacement. If outside warranty, you are SOL and buy a new shifter.
So long as you don't have ST-7800 levers (Dura Ace), then it appears that what you need is Shimano part number 6BD9812. This is available from Quality Bike Parts as P/N LD7749. Any LBS should be able to order them for you. From Shimanos exploded parts breakdown, the above part number appears to include the band as well as the bolt, nut, and washer. About $15 each.

The clamp bands are not an internal part and are easily available.
