General Cycling Discussion - care for your knees and joints

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Is there anything special that you do to care for your knees and joints?
Just recently I noticed a twinge in my knees at the patella (knee cap) and I am wondering if I may have strained ligaments?
Right now, I am taking some time off to rest my legs and knees and see what happens.

Questions like this are best discussed with your doctor, mate.
Keep 'em warm and get your position on the bike right.

rest
ice
compression
elevation
massage
heat
hprofen cream
foam roller
stretching
pt
orthopedist
naproxen
any/all of the above have helped me, but then again i still ended up without cartilege in at least one of my knees at 38.
As mentioned above, start with RICE
Rest
Ice
Compression
Elevation
add to that being conscious of good posture when you're walking, riding, and especially when you're sitting.
Have you been wearing tights lately?
