I'm trying to learn the art of bicycle maintaince. Anybody familiar with courses in Manhattan or
a bike shop employee willing to give a primer on tune ups? Thanks.

I believe the 5 Bourough Bike Club runs classes intermittently - see

There will also probably be free mini-clinics later on in the spring... there ususally are. Watch the calendar here:

And there are definitely clinics during May (New York Bike Month):

You might check with you LBS. Some of them run classes sponsored by Park tool.
