This bike deserves a thread. It's my wifes. 3 speed internal Nexus hubs, built in fenders, long wheelbase and kickstand. "Noah's arc" style handlebars. V-brakes. It's been trouble and noise free over the past 3 months of Philly commuting. I think it's a cool city bike and the geometry is very stable at low speed. The paint is holding up well against city lockup. Comes in a non-mixte version for doods.

Pardon me if my ignorance is showing: Moving bottom brackets actually exist?

yeah i know.
it was an actual question, I was assuming it had an eccentric bottom bracket due to the lack of track ends.

they're called eccentric and they were developed a while ago but first mass produced when mtb dual suspensions started gaining traction in the market.

and yes, the milano is SWEET.

all the bianchi lower end bikes are damn nice.

I put a black Milano 8speed on lay away for my wife last week. Shhh don't tell her. Oh and I got her the boy frame.

To answer the BB question: no, it uses sliding dropouts using 15mm bolt like a track bike. The 3-speed shifting mechanism is activated with a grip shift which pushes and pulls a stiff cable into the hub via a hole in the axle.

Having built a bunch of Avenues and Boardwalks last year, I can safely say their $400 hybrids are pretty much the same as everybody else's $400 hybrids, by which I mean a Shimano C102 front derailer only works as well as the time you put into it.

Milanos, on the other hand, are in a class all their own.

Sheldon Brown approves of 3-speeds. Mechanically a single speed bike as far as the chain is concerned.

Too bad they don't make men's models in white anymore like my '99.

The change over to Shimano components on the Avenues sucked. Such a crappy derailleur compared to the previous SRAM, which had some trimming abilities and didn't cause interference when trying to attach fenders.

And I like the Black Milanos. But the whole internal gear talk has me thinking of putting one on my San Jose.
