Looking for the little 8-gallon version of the Action Packer storage box. I've got one, got it at Walmart for about $8 several years ago. But, none of the Walmarts currently have them in stock. They are at REI at $24- sort of steep. Y'all know of other places that stock these things (withing having to use mailorder)? I'm working on a trailer here...

I have seen them in Big Lots, local hardware stores, farm supply stores, flea markets, and yard sales. I still have a pretty good stash from a few years ago when they were on sale somewhere and we were using them to store camping equipment in.
Edit: REI lists them on their website (http://www.rei.com/product/634286)...might have them in the store or could ship them to the store.
Interesting that the smaller one is so hard to find. I remember when they came in several different colors besides the basic black. I have burgundy, green and tan ones too. ;)

Amazon.com has them but the price is strange compared to the 24 gal packer.
8 gal.....

Consider using a cheaper plastic tub/lid other than the packer 'cause there are many to choose from.

"Big Lots, local hardware stores, farm supply stores"- I shall check around some more. I know Lowes doesn't carry them, but haven't tried Tractor Supply or hardware stores.
"Amazon.com has them but the price is strange compared to the 24 gal packer." I saw that when I did a Google search, and have no idea where that comes from- they showed $99 and up for something I paid $10 for at Walmart, maybe I'm in the wrong business.
I've looked at cheaper tubs, and it's really hard to find something as sturdy as those are. The difference might not be apparent if you haven't used them, but they are about ten times as tough as the home-storage tubs you normally see.

Oh yes, I use an Action Packer on my Worksman PAV trike as a "trunk" due to it's toughness. That
said, I used it 'cause I already had it plus it's a perfect fit for the PAV. If not I would have, without
hesitation, used a cheaper plastic tub with lid for the job.
After all just how much weight are you planning on carrying?

Good point about about the weight. But I'm figuring to just support them between two rails, not on the bottom. And I need a lid that won't blow off. Now, if Action Packers really did cost $100 each, I'd use something different, but I was hoping to locate another cheap one like the first one I had. Off to Big Lots now.

Update- went by Walmart #4 on the way home from work, and found a plentiful supply of both large and small Action Packers. The little ones were $18.44 or so and the big ones $25 or so. I picked up a second little one and the trailer can now proceed. :)

Sweet! WM has picked up the annoying habit of only stocking certain items at certain stores based on previous sales history. I needed wool socks, the general store that I used to buy them at has closed:( so off to the closest WM...they don't carry any, didn't get any and don't expect too:wtf::notamused: I wear wool socks just about year round! Fortunately I am also working in Ohio so was able to stock up there.

Great!! I thought the Amazon.com price was a "little" steep at $90 for the 8 gal Packer. :roflmao2::roflmao2:
