So I just moved into my new place up Montevina Road off highway 17, and I have been exploring quite a bit in the past few weeks. I have been hitting Black Road to Skyline, then over to Bear Creek road and descending back home. It's a great ride, great workout, and a lot of fun. Anybody interested in doing this ride with me this Sunday 11/23 or perhaps the next Sunday 11/30?

You should jump into the Sunday Montebello Road rides and see if you can convince them to do Montebello, Redwood Gulch, and Bohlman Road so you can connect on the trail at the end to Montevina. Yeah, that's the ticket...

Oh I'll be there to take on Montebello, that sounds like a blast!! I am about to take delivery of the bike of my dreams, I need to show it off :).

Riding around the lake is a good warmup before heading up the climbs. The best way is to go over the overpass and down the NB 17 onramp, then ride the shoulder to get to Alma Bridge rd. There is one drainage grate that you have to go out into traffic to avoid.

Black rd can get a bit busy on weekday mornings when Lakeside school is in session. Same with Montevina although not quite as bad; everyone there is taking their kids down the hill to school.

Old Santa Cruz rd takes you up to summit and from there you can go down san jose-soquel and come back up Mtn Charlie or Zayante or go south and get Eureka Canyon back to Highland (check for the status of the road closure, it's usually passable but not always).
