Does anyone have suggestions on a good bike transport case? A friend of mine is asking for one for Christmas, and she asked me to post for her here.
She is willing to spend a decent amount of money to get something good. Any personal experiences you can relate would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Lisa

your friend will need a pedal wrench to remove/attach pedals (and she/he may want a torque wrench if she/he has carbon fiber handlebars)
excelsports.com and many other retail url-sites sell this case

My only suggestion is if she plans on using it for airline travel. Get one that allows the bike to be broken down as much as possible. I made the mistake of getting one that only required removal of the front wheel and turning the handle bar. While it was convienient, it made the case quite sizable - oversized and requiring "special handling" in the eyes of the airline. The bike and case (62 lbs total) cost me an addtional $217 EACH WAY from Philly to San Diego and back. Totally my fault. Had I actually read some of the finer print on the USAir website before hand (and it is there), I might have given the whole idea a second though.

I had gotten an excellent recommendation from Botto and others here for the Trico Iron Case, which has about 25K air miles on it - excellent case!!!

I've got 2 of Serfas Bike armor cases, great protection but much too bulky and unwieldy.
I am going to order the pika packworks soft bike case as its much more compact.
