Mountain Biking - Sorry about this - best MTB for £150 - £200

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

My other half wants to take a tentative first step into MTBing but she won't part with more than £200 for her first bike. What's the best bit of kit she can get in that price range......

Look at secondhand, preferably fom your LBS, unless you know bikes, but the main thing is it must fit her, she must be comfortable on it, and the colour has to be right. If you intend for her to carry on riding, check the riding of the bike yourself, and if it rides better than your bike, and it meets her critereia, get it. Don't just get her a bike. Get her a good one.
