Just put my Gary Fisher Kaitai up on Craig's List.
I'm a little sad but this bike gave me 2.5 years, 1500 miles and a WHOLE new world opened up for me. A new and beautiful and wonderful world.
So, yeah, I'm sad but I guess, I'll call it a draw.

But without a Kaitai in my stable, it looks like I'll be needing a new ID.
SKT dies with the Fisher.

edit: clarified my crafty prose at Rick's request

Sorry SaiKaiTai,
I don't get it, please translate.
You consider Craig's List a whole new world? Huh?
And why would you call that a draw?
And why do you need a new ID (or do you mean bikeforum name . . . which would make a little sense).

Any nibbles?

I'll give you $149 for it.

Just a nibble. I think it required too much effort on his part and he bailed out
Meanwhile, the shop that had the Jamis I tested out still has it.
I'm taking it out again -longer and dryer this time- on Saturday

I've got to sell this Fisher!

A hunnert and a half, you say?

Wow, some people are just crazy! Imagine spending over a hunnert bucks for a bike! ;)

We should hack into Craig's list and put a link to this forum. After people read about him he'll NEVER sell it :D

Best of luck with the sale mate. It's horrid selling things but sometimes a deal is struck that's good for both parties, let's hope this is one of them.

OK, I just pulled the ad, dropped the price and relisted it.
Just had one flake respond, that was it.
The guy at the Jamis shop yesterday said bikes pretty much sell for half of what ever you paid for them. I figure, another few days and I will be selling it for $150. Oh well

Bummer.

I'd buy only it wouldn't fit, it's the wrong style and the ride home to Oz would be a killer :D

Have you thought about trying to sell it through a local bike club website? The two clubs to which I belong have sites and there are often bikes for sale that seem to go pretty quickly. My club here in Lincoln sends out e-mails all the time, often with stuff for sale. That's how I got my "new" storage unit.

Best o'luck on the sale! My mtn.bike is one bike I don't think I could part with. It's a GT Timberline-the frame was replaced by GT in 98, and all parts on it have been upgraded by me, so nothing left of the old bike (do have the orig wheels and 7 spd cassette in the shed though). Too many good memories of trail riding and rail-trails when we lived close to s.e.Pa. Plan to eventually move back to that area. Have sold many bikes, without regret, but the GT will be around forever (and will probably last that long, since it's not ridden much these days).

I found this true when I sold my 1800C road bike. I got exactly half of the original purchase price. Unfortunately I had to settle for less than half for the hybrids and a mountain bike.

Can I make a suggestion? Post the pictures on a site such as photobucket. Use the "HTML Code" option to in bed the higher resolution photo into your ad. This way you show clear and detailed pictures of the bike. I did this with my Snow Cycle, which was a very specialized sale, but I ended up with three prospective buyers who were very satisfied when they saw the bike in person. The second person never haggled over the price and he left very happy (hopefully this link will work).

The pictures of your bike make it look as if it has not been cleaned, tuned up, or taken care of (which is probably not the case). Best of luck with your sale.

Goodluck and farewell SKT, how we loved thee. Now, for your new Bike Forums name. It has to sound Native American, and involve your difficult to understand for mere mortals attraction to hills. I will start by suggesting Climbs a Lot.

"Dances With Hills" which is a derivitive of my neighborhood nick name (Dances with
Waves). Couple guys on bikes, a windy day, a half mile long pier on a Great Lake...someone
was bound to get wet.

Don't get despondant too soon- And for $150- I would keep it.- Or even give it away to someone I know needs it and would use it.

Dances with hills sounds good- and apt.
