I came to mexico to study since august and I will be returning to the states in a month. I sold my truck before i left and brought my bike to mexico with me. It is my goal to not buy another car and simply use my bike and use public transportation. driving stresses the hell out of me and i do not want to return to that. this is a big step for me because i use to race cars and whatnot but that didnt get me anywhere.
well anyway i hope to stay strong even through the shock of winter (its a steady 75 degrees here)

You should be fine. Just try to find a convenient place to live--not too far from work, shopping and recreation. And keep your bike in good repair.

What's it like to cycle in Mexico? My stepson Jerry and I have talked about going there. It's really just a dream at this point. (Jerry is Mexican-American and speaks good street Spanish.)

If you hate traffic, you might want to move to a small or medium city.

Hey, I've been to Cuernavaca. What a great place to sit around the plaza at night sipping a brew and chat with the locals at a sidewalk cafe. Lots of hills and some cobblestone too, but beautiful weather year round. Mexico has one of the world's greatest city to city bus systems. Our "greyhounds" in the US are tired slow dogs compared to the big bus lines like ADO or Estrella Blanca in Mexico. In Cuernavaca you can hop a first class bus to DF, Taxco, Chilpancingo or Acapulco any time of day or night without waiting more than 15 to 30 minutes. It will be a little tougher when you come back to the USA, our public transportation is fairly good in some cities, pathetic in others. Good luck.
