Folding Bikes - Video of packing the Dahon in a suitcase

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. I made a quick video showing how I packed my Dahon D7 into a suitcase:

Hopefully this will be useful for others as they can see it is not as daunting as it sounds.

very cool indeed
couple questions.... what was the size of the suitcase ? It wasnt an oyster I assume ...
Why do you let the air out of the tires ?
Do you really have to take the pedals completely off ? ( folding pedals do have a little more potrusion then the mks take away pedals )
fenders would fit I am sure ...... sometimes its nicer not to worry about all the stuff we like on our bikes ..lol
Great job

Excellent job of obscuring the important details behind a very trim backside. ;) I enjoyed it. The video, that is, not the backside.

Nice. It's difficult to learn to pack a folder just by looking at pictures. The video help a lot.
I also like that the bike has its accessories, so it's not just how to pack a stock bike.
Question: Why didn't you remove the rack and basket earlier? Also, what was the total disassembly time? I noticed some editing in the video (which was appreciated for pacing).

I suspect the tires are flattened so they won't EXPLODE if taken on an airplane, in low air pressure.

thats a cool myth which keeps on hanging around ....
Since the late 50's the bagage compartment is fully pressurized and in most cases also temperature comtrolled.... its the same place where dogs and other animals are flying ...
absolutely nothing to it ...
how much more pressure in 30000 feet anyhow?
wouldnt the planes wheels burst into pieces ?
I would be interested how many more LBS would be generated if you take a bicycle tire up there ..

I've heard previously that the hold is pressurized. However, I was recently told that
if you don't deflate your tires, the TSA may slash them
To me that sounds like a myth too, but I figured for a few extra minutes with a pump I might as well deflate just to be on the safe side ;)

I've flown with my folded bikes 10-15 times over the past 2 years without deflating the tires, and I've never had a problem.
