Check out the San Fernando Valley Bicycle Club (http://www.sfvbc.org/). They have rides every Saturday and Sunday morning starting at CSUN with 3 or 4 route options from beginner to advanced. You don't have to be a member to go on the rides. Very friendly and social group of varied abilities.
Also Saturday rides at Agoura Cycles. Leaves the shop at 8. Short group goes about 22 miles and is novice level. CVC Purple ride is beginners. See cvcbike.org for details. They ride most Sundays from Westlake Village.

Kicker26- I live in the Chatsworth area and usually ride on Sat's in the AM. I'm not real fast and am sorta a "retro-grouch". If that doesn't bother you, drop me a line and let's see what we can do. Otherwise, the SFVBC is a great group of folks to ride with. PG.
Shoot me a PM or Email. My brother and I are just getting into it. We try to ride 2-3 times during the week and on Sat & Sun. Averaging about 20-30 mile rides. We are working to get up our speed/stamina and hopefully join SFVBC by Spring time.
20-30 miles is pretty typical for the beginner rides with the SFVBC. If you can average about 13-15 mph, you would be perfectly fine on the beginner rides.
I'm just about to start getting back into bike shape after being off my bike for most of the past year due to a back injury (I finally got doctor approval to ride). I'm in Sherman Oaks, but was regularly riding to Woodland Hills before I got injured. I'm not sure how long it will take me to get up to the 20- to 30-mile range, but if you are still looking for riders in a month or so, let me know.

Thanks for the offer, it sounds perfect. I need about a week though before I start if that is ok. I am healing an old injury and would rather ride 100% or close to it. I live across from Kaiser Hospital between Winnetka and Desoto, so meeting anywhere near is fine. I will get back to you by mid next week. Thanks again.

Keep in touch. I download the bike routes off of SFVBC and at times just go those routes. Other times we will make up our own routes.
For the overall ride, according to my computer, we are averaging about 15mph. My brother is rehabbing an ankle with a couple of screws in it  but he seems to be coming along just fine.
We look forward to riding with you guys, or anybody in the area that likes to ride.

Recently laid off so looking for a begineer/intermediate riding partner(s) in the Woodland Hills area. I live between Winnetka & Desoto if anyone is Intrested in morning rides around 9-10am. Thanks
Sorry to hear about the lay off.
My brother and I usually ride during the week but in the afternoon. Next week is day light savings time so it should allow for a bit later rides with some light. I try to be back before the sun sets. Too many cars that dont see you when the street lights come on. We ride in Northridge/Chatsworth/Porter Ranch area.
We started riding with SFVBC on the weekends. Good group. We're planning on meeting there Saturday morning if you want.
