Forum Suggestions & User Assistance - What's with the ads?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Banner ads are now all the way down the side of the threads.
I got used to the text ad about cycling Africa but the new banner ads are irritating.
And the video ads slow down the load times.
I'll trade back for the database errors, takes about the same time for the page to load.
Why do you see ads if you're a red star?

Allen, PM me a screenshot of this so I can forward it upstairs to tech. We'll see what we can do about it.

I'd be happy with the ads that way if it meant only BF related stuff like how to join got in with the posts.

I've been seeing them for the past couple of weeks as well; I just assumed IB brought the ads back when the Titanium level was created.

Try a cookie deletion. The webmaster had to do a live fix this afternoon, and things may have glitched.
Let me know if they are still showing up after the cookies are cleared and you re log in.....

Yup...tossed my cookies, cleared the cache and logged back in. The ads are still there, and in FF 2.0 they are actually overlaying some of the frames.

I just cleared cookies, and I am still seeing ads... In fact, I just started seeing them a few minutes ago... so it may be getting worse. ;)

Let me join the fun chorus. Ads galore. Cleaned cookies and offline files, closed all browsers, rebooted and ads. Hadn't seen ads till when I just logged in today.

I still see ads but I only have the Igor. Is that correct?
Tom Stormcrowe

Yeah, you should see ads. Red star and Titanium are ad free. Red Star is no longer sold, though, but you can go Ti. ;)

That's odd. The Igor's provided ad free access up until a couple of days ago. If you look in the news and announcements page, there was a whole thread about donating to a charitable cause and getting an Igor.
I'm guessing that this decision was reversed in recent days?

Nope, Igors provided a symbol that you had donated to a charity as a recognition. The red star igors, or Ti igors serve the same purpose, but are ad free.

I'm not having much trouble with ads. They're in English and large enough to read for the most part.

Your fonts are better looking than mine.
Hey Tom, Since I have been back from vacation I have been getting ads I had never gotten before. Was I suppose to have been getting them all this time? Now the site is so slow I cant hardly use it. Both at home and at work every time I post a reply or try to read a post it literally takes several minutes. Kinda takes all the fun out of it. Why the change?

You should have been seeing them all along.
