Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - what to do...

I just picked up a raleigh technium trilite and was planing on making it a ss or fg but i was wondering if theres any thing u can do about the shifter bolt?

What needs done? It won't keep you from running ss or fixed.

If I still had those shift levers I'd put them back on my conversion with no cables that way i don't have any raw metal potentially poking my legs—also then I could spin them around and pretend to shift etc.

Make a little doobie holder that screws into one side, and a lighter holder that screws into the other side.

Or tastefully wrap a bandanna around the downtube. That will give you major street cred.

No but seriously, you could grind them down in theory with a saw or a grinder or a file or something. Then maybe some creative patching required depending on how far you are able to grind it down and what it looks like. Maybe you should look for a different frame if it bothers you though.

lol.. i'll admit it, the first time i saw someone wrap a bandanna on their top tube i thought it was the dopest ish. i wanted to do it as well but i don't like the idea of flaunting some rag out in the open here in LA.

to the OP, whatever you do, you should not ride your bike like that. looks like a nasty accident waiting to happen.

Don't cut them off. Eventually, you might want to put gears on and you will kick yourself like many-a-folk if you permanently damage your bike.

a friend of mine built up a raleigh technium, i cut them off for him and grinded it smooth after paint or powder you'll never know it was there, especially if you get a really fine toothed file.
