I'm a ff in san diego and during my shift today (i'm still at work - 24hr shifts) we responded to a mva (motor vehicle accident). as a longtime no-brake rider i was surprised to see a passenger vehicle with a frank damage to it's left headlamp and a fixed-gear bike broke in two. the rider will be okay and charges will not be filled to the driver of the car. it happened at night and the fixed-gear head no lights and no brake. the bike looked to me like one of those cheap fixed gear bikes sold at bikes direct.

That's a problem with Chinese products. And why would anyone taste a bike frame?

Mmm delicious 4130 chromo...

I love Taiwanese Bike builders!

They are making awesome frames!

All this made in America **** is crap! So stupid! I guess not being American, I don't care, but I don't care about made in the UK. I don't care about where it was made, as long as it was made well with skill, craftmanship and a company that will back up the work!

I love my Specialized Enduro S-Works! One of the most amazing frames. And proud of the fact that it was made in Taiwan.

That's a little harsh, but I do have a giggle everytime I look at my Trek520 - there's a sticker on the rear fork that proudly proclaims that it was 'hand built in the USA' ... that sticker is crooked and has a wrinkle in it

if i was to hazard a guess,

the "flashy lights people" "took" him to the "hospital." he "knew what the deal was" and "could move four of his limbs."

do i win?

thats funny. Unless I know something is a quality product, i don't think of made in america as a good thing.

I think this thread could (and should) evolve into the very first anti-Bikes Direct thread in the entire history of Bike Forums.

After all, only someone who would buy a BD bike would get hit by a car. Silly stupids!
