I have apparently decide to work for someone besides myself again, and accepted a position in Charleston.

I need road-bike info about the area. Are there biking friendly roads, good LBS, clubs, etc.

any info would be appreciated.

1old, I am originally from Myrtle Beach and used to go to Charleston quite a bit. There are several good LBSs downtown. I don't know the names off the top of my head. And it has been a few years. The college is there so there are pleanty of bikes around.

I wouldn't ride downtown. The roads were designed for horse and buggy, very narrow, and some are still cobblestone. The good thing is you can get to fairly unpopulated areas in just a few minutes. I just hope you are not looking for any hills.

Gee, Avalanche. I have visited Charlestown a number of times. It has the largest assembly of antebellum and revolutionary era homes in the country I think. Marvelous place. But those narrow roads are hard to get around in on a car and parking places are not common. I have found that for gawking at the scenery, nothing beats a bike and especially early on Sunday morning when no one is out.
