Bicycle Mechanics - How Long is Too Long to Wait for LBS Order?

I placed an order with my lbs for a bottom bracket last monday, they said it would go out the next day and I could expect it in about 4 days. Well it is now 6 or 7 depending on what day you start counting. Is this too long to have to wait, should they have known better than to tell me 4 days? I want to support them, but the temptation to order online and have the part in 2-3 days is great. I'm going to call today, should I just be patient?

Sounds like a long time to me. My lbs installed one for me and the bike was in my hands in 1 1/2 hours. Maybe a slow day, but I figured a bb is something they always have around.

I believe that it depends on your bike store, mine sucks (see my rant: http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=48709) I am still waiting on my LBS... but previously I waited six weeks for shoe plates and the two weeks for a LX bb, now my FBS, they order parts at less twice a week, more if they have enough to justify the order, so three days is around the norm

That sucks. Maybe lbs is so quick with me b/c I always manage to mangle stuff and they make great money on my buys. :)

That does suck, 28 days! I don't feel quite as bad, but I am losing patience at an accelerated rate!

i had to wait 8 weeks on my order but then again it was a special build. i hate to see how long it will take me to get parts for my new baby as everything on her is non-standard. (it's a trike w/ internal hub breaks like on a PU truck.)

i order my BB and it took 6 days to come in from the supplier. BUT....

same day i order my BB, i also order an LX der. Its been 3 weeks and it hasn't come in and i blame this all on Shimano. TUrns out they are not shipping any thing out so......

the LBS is going to order it from another supplier. :)

Problem Solved

1 to 3 days at the max! All of my suppliers are like that. most of mine except BTI and Hawley are next day!
