Folding Bikes - Added a thudbuster and new saddle to my Dahon Mu P8

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

How do you manage to bring your bike with tyres inside in a country where shoes are left at the door? :)

Great question.
I live in American base housing. As you can see by the trim and rotten carpet that the place is older than the Bible and not much worry about bikes or shoes.

Thing I don't like about the thudbuster is that it looks like it interferes with the fold...you can't push the seat down all the way anymore.

I imagine you'd leave your bike in the genkan.

I don't have a thudbuster but I tend to put the seat post in that position anyway as it allows the bike to be rolled in a variety of ways and can still rest as normal.

Having Thudbusters on all three of our folding bikes, I must say they are well worth any minor inconvenience they may cause...and they cause NONE.
If my seat is happy, I am happy! :thumb:

How do they feel?
Dampen rough roads?
How does your rump like the saddle?
I am considering same. (ClydeLite Geezer).

I took two fairly long rides on the bike today and I have to say it's money well spent. I had to toe the saddle down a little in front but other than that it's darn near perfect for me.
I was afraid the dampening action would be too spongy and I'd be moving all over. I was 100% wrong. It works better than I had envisioned.
A lot of times when I ride I'll get fatigued after 45 minutes or an hour or so and want to hop off and stretch or something. Not today.
I like it so much I bought one for another bike I have and will probably by yet a third.
The only thing I DON'T like is the Dahon Mu P8 has a floor pump installed in the seatpost which is cool. Adding the Thudbuster means I lose the floor pump.

Right. My Japanese wife would kill me if I brought the bike inside - however the genkan (area just inside front door where shoes are left) is OK.

BTW, there are people who still wear shoes in the house? Disgusting!
Maybe I've been here too long.

We don't wear shoes in the house either. It's really odd to go overseas and walk into someone's home with shoes on. I keep hearing my mom's voice chastising me for being rude.
In fact, our studio and office is also a no-shoes workplace.
My wife does let me take the bikes in though. We don't have a choice anyway, apartment living means it isn't safe to leave bikes out in the corridor.

FYI: My Boardwalk S1 has the Blue/Black combo, but the newer (slightly redesigned) Thudbuster LT on my NWT had to be Black/Black to yield the same performance at my 200 lb weight. Also, had to go "up one" on the wife's Crusoe to keep it from being too "mushy" (She is is in the 155-160 range and has the aforementioned Blue/Black set-up.)
