Utility Cycling - adult trailer?

in the spirit of ultimate luxury, i'm attempting to find a way to transport my bikeless friend without using a car due to my car-less lifestyle. i'm thinking of a trailer, but they're all designed for young children as opposed to 19 year olds. however, the 19 year old in question is only 4'11" and 100 pounds, does anybody know of a trailer that would work for this?

No. Build one or look into the "special needs" marked. I collected my son from school once or twice in a homemade trailer made from a steel frame from a sofa, two old forks and the bars from a "gras cutter". Put a gardenchair pillow on top. He liked the transport but not the attention he got.

Maybe a longtail bike?

My friends have someone much bigger than that on one all the time. It works great.
Here it is on the road. This is a special needs child that has coordination problems. She has trouble pedaling, balancing and even hanging on. There is even a cargo platform on the back. They have taken down a dirt path gently and plowed through tall weeds.

For a generic "bikeless friend", you just need a tandem.

Yes with minor easy mods this one will work......

You ,even if your a clutzy person, can build this trailer , or have it built, for under $100 with
salvaged parts to carry 300# easy. Save your money, mate, it's hard times..remember??

My mods.....
Frame... from plywood to white oak salvaged from a shipping skid.
Wheels...from 27" to 20" salvaged from a discarded kids bike (carrys more).
Neck.. from plywood to white oak salvaged from a shipping skid.
Bracing for neck (for added twist strength) diagonal from front edge of frame to 6"
behind hitch of 3/4" electrical conduit. Neck dimensions can be adjusted to fit properly.
Paint...what I had on hand in oil based enamel.
Hitch.. a piece of tire side wall or other cord reinforced rubber sheeting.
Safety... seat belt for kids and bike flag for idiot drivers.

This plan is so easy to build I built mine using simple hand tools for everything except
drilling the 4 holes in the metal conduit."
