BG, those are exactly what I'm looking for. Thanks for the pic.

Nick, not sure that 600 headset will offer you much help if your fork is truly stupidly short. Had the same problem and tried every headset I had- including one of those- and even though it gave me marginally more threadroom, I eventually wound up using a different fork. Just couldn't get enough thread past the top race nut to get the locknut threaded.

Please lend me a hand, a constantly loosening headset is a pain in the butt.

Just how low of a stack height do you need? The Steel Levin is something like 35mm. I have a 600 headset at home but I think it's the later one, I'll check tonight.

The Tange Passage stack is only 31mm without the washer, a Chris King GripNut goes down to 33mm at the smallest.

Hey fellas! The bike originally was cut exactly right for a 600 tri-color headset. The cups had cracked (a problem with those headsets) and I switched it for a Steel Tange Levin, which never seemed to tighten up right. So I switched that for an Alloy Tange headset, which is also a little big.

The tange Passage? I didn't know it was that low.. And affordable! :)

I'm gonna go order one from the LBS today.

Sorely wanted:

Ambrosio FCS 28 or Focus clinchers 32h

or

DT Swiss RR 585 clinchers 32h

OR

a similar quality deep section aero clinchers with a ~30mm profile, or larger. New, used, borrowed or blue; it doesn't matter as long two good 32h rims that match the above description can appear at door step without me spending money I don't have. :twitchy:

Also want:

- Shimano SPD-SL pedals
- 3T Ergonova 42cm bar
- Continental GP 4000s, (other Conti folding bead clinchers considered), or Vredestein Fortezza, or Vittoria Open Pave CX. I prefer, OR virtually any quality 700c tires ~23c
- Ultegra/105ish Brakeset. I prefer Shimano, but will consider all others.
- a cross or touring frame with canti braze-ons
- "A Sunday In Hell" on DVD
- monetary compensation
- other offers

Here are a few more things I have:

- one rear wheel Exage 7s freehub laced to a box section Araya 700c clincher

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4068/4498422147_f8bdd01936_o.jpg

- one front RX100 hub laced to a Mavic M192 eyeleted round box section 700c clincher.

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2681/4027121779_6d73fbd174_o.jpg

- one 7s Shimano 12-23 cassette that works with the Exage wheel

freewheel hubs:

- one matched wheelset; Shimano 600 hubs laced to Saturae (Specialized) eyeleted round box section 700c clinchers

*the front hub's bearing races have some pitting in the cups. Nothing that would keep someone from riding on it and having fun, but indeed enough that some folk's expectations. This could be quite easily remedied with a new front hub or by being ignored; preposterous! Also, the rims had some nicks on the edges, probably from improper tire installation. They have been filed/sanded smooth and even to provide good braking performance.

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2555/4254895145_1db2863b95_o.jpg

- one matched wheelset; Shimano 105 hubs laced 32h 3x to Matrix (Trek) semi aero hard anodized 700c clinchers low miles *This wheelset is a tricky one, because I am actually planning on using the rims for my new wheelset.

As seen on this bike:

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4036/4458701100_cdd07d9fe7_o.jpg

- one Ambrosio 32h Super Elite hard anodized eyeleted 700c clincher rim

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4020/4488219522_68710ba522_o.jpg

- one unknown front wheel; cartridge bearing hub (something good) laced radial 28h, with aero profile spokes (probably DT) to Araya hard anodized semi aero 700c clincher. I don't quite know what this wheel is, or where it's from, but this wheel is fantastically light/well built

The front one on this bike:

http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-sjc1/hs079.snc3/14647_1288475180076_1476102765_784380_5447053_n.jpg

- one Regina 6s freewheel in near new condition, low miles 14-21, (I think)

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4052/4487569709_48f0dc5e0c.jpg

- one NOS Dura Ace 7400 32h hub

- a bunch of QR skewers

- vintage Shimano 105 clipless pedals, Look compatible

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2734/4455805245_7ca18f7e4e_o.jpg

I am willing to break down any of these wheels/wheelsets, if you only want the hubs or rims, or sell them whole. I give bulk discounts, and will sell or part out damaged stuff very inexpensively.

Of course, most of my other stuff (http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?565196-The-For-Trade-Thread&p=10677281&viewfull=1#post10677281) is still available too and recently updated. :D

The title tells the story: I'm looking for a Sakae SXC 175mm crankarm set, for my 1990 Bianchi Volpe. Mine came with 170mm crankarms, which are uncomfortably short.

Used or NOS. If you're interested, I'll trade mine for yours.

UPDATE (6/7/2011): Not only are the 170mm crankarms short, but it was only yesterday that I figured out the Volpe's frame geometry is for cyclocross, so of course the bottom bracket is higher! Sheesh. What does this mean for me? For starters, if I adjust the pedal-to-seat distance correctly, then it's a real stretch to balance on the ball of my left foot at stop lights. In addition, I need to raise the handlebars correspondingly, but there's insufficient length in the stem. I should probably be looking for 180mm crankarms... maybe 185mm? bump

Suntour Superbe I believe but it's not listed on the crank, the chainrings are Specialized. The bike was spec'ed with Superbe and has specialized BB and chainrings. I may have to wait till some wheels become available before putting it up for sale.

Front Derailleur swap:
seems I need a braze-on FD that will handle a triple with a 22t difference, and the one I was trying (a nice Suntour GPX) won't go that far.
I will swap that FD, or any of the FDs pictured in my album:
http://s179.photobucket.com/albums/w314/unworthy1_photo/for%20sale%20or%20trade/
or (not yet pictured) a B-O Shimano 600 tricolor or a B-O Shimano 600 AX aero...
FOR, something from any of the major brands, (Shimmy, Campy, SunTour) that's in good shape, braze-on, and will do a 22t difference(52-42-30)...bottom pull of course.
If you have the above and want something else shown in my FS/Trade album, just PM me.

OK, this is not funny anymore: I ordered a Miche lockring for my Chorus hub, and based on everything I'd read I thought I'd be getting one with 27mm thread diameter.
No such luck. It has 30.5mm :(
Now I own 2 with 29mm, one with 26mm and a new-to-me 30.5mm. I had no idea there could be so much dang variety!
So I'm back to offering a trade:
the brand new Miche for a Campy-compatible lockring (brand not important) with 27mm thread dia. and 38mm flange dia. (this might be described as fitting a 9-spd hub with 12t or larger first cog, but I have found you can't go by the description alone, it has to be measured!)
