Hey folks, a thrift store I passed by today was calling me in to have a look... Guess what I found... Another pair of my favorite cycling shoes; Detto-Pietro winter race shoes from the '60s -early '70s IN MY SIZE! The shop owner thought they were ladies bowling shoes... They had 'em priced a bit high at 16 bucks, but it was half off day! What's your latest cool find?

I'd really like to pick this guy up, but a lack of money and weeked plans work against me.
So, if you're in the Norfolk, VA area, grab it before it gets trashed...
P.s. What's the info on this bike, the seller hasn't gotten back to me, but the eye's of the C&V forum should be able to determine the make of this bike.

Looks like a UO8 to me.
I thought PX10s had chromed tips on both the fork and the stays.
exactly. miamijim will fill us in on the finer points, but if it doesn't have chrome front and rear, and the inoxydable sticker on it, it is not a PX-10.

It's a Sears Tote-Cycle. They were made from I believe the late 60's-early 70's. I have two of them. Build quality is pretty bad but they are sturdy and ride great for a break-apart/folder. I hope you managed to pick it up if it was only $20!
Here's mine and a few others:

I had a nice stroke of luck this evening! I bought a Giant Cypress DX last weekend to get a set of rims and brakes for the Shogun. Not a bad buy for $45, I thought at the time.
Tonight.. I looked at the Prelude, and then the already partially scavenged Cypress, and a light bulb went on over my head, lol. I popped the cranks off the Cypress, and measured the BB. It was only a couple of mm's off. I got out the BB tool, and went to work. I then walked over to the Nishiki International carcass, and pulled the 105 cranks off. I slipped the arms on the Prelude, and used the allen bolts from the Giant. Perfect fit, and almost the exact clearance as the original crank/BB! So, now the Pink Prelude has a low mileage cartridge BB, and a set of biopaced105 cranks. The Giant is the catch that keeps on giving, hehe.,,,,BD

Nope. I just payed what he was asking for it. It's not made of Reynolds 753; instead, Reynolds 531. And you're right-on the size; 60cm. Fit's me perfect.

I wouldnt touch the crankset. Its value will drop by 75% once its used. If I had to guess, and I'm only guessing here, I'd say you can $400+ for the crankset BB and box.

The crankset and BB are not NOS. They look pretty much new but one can see in the chain ring a bit of wear. The rest of the crank set is perfect; no scratches or anything. The dust caps look as if they were never installed and so do the cups and spindle. They are mint, but not NOS. Still, I'm very happy I got them.:D

Shogun Alpine GT 12 Speed Bicycle - $20

2 bikes for $150, some assemble required. Link (http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/bik/930224687.html)
Motobecane frame - $35
Think is a mid 70s Grand Touring frame. Looks like the front wheel and seat post are MIA. Link (http://seattle.craigslist.org/est/bik/930195090.html)
Sold my 84 Peugeot last night on a whim to a "Wanted 58-60CM road bike" ad on CL. Almost didn't let it go. Had that bike a LONG time. Got it late 85 from a buddy. Nice guy that bought it. Wants to make a Fixed out of it. The Helicomatic hub was ...well a typical Helicomatic hub. I was seriously thinking about lacing a flip flop to it as well. He just caught me at a moment of weakness with a really nice T700 Cannondale on CL that I want and needed the cash to get it.
So today while out trying to find fuel line for the yard blower I saw a Estate sale sign and decided to make a drive by. Out on the driveway was a Schwinn Continental II Not horrible condition just really crusty. Its a rider though. 25inches to the top of the top tube and 35 stand over. Head badge say 0748 and the SN starts KN saying Oct of 77 so I guess that makes it a 78 model. Asked the guy "how much?" Got the story that he "got it from his friend that got it at a Garage sale 10 years ago for $5 and I'll take $5 for it now." PAID on the spot rode it out to my truck.
Decals are really bad but the paint has promise. Little rust on the rims but seems to clean up ok. Its missing its factory rear wheel and has some goofy plastic peddles but has all the rest of its original parts. The rear wheel that is on it has a chain clearance issue on the spoke guard that doesn't make a lot of sense. Makes the chain jump. Drives good in all but the low gear. Tires hold air and the rear is in pretty good shape. Cleaned it up some tonight and put couple miles on it. Really impressed with how nice it rides No grinding, cranks feel smooth.
Trying to figure out what to do about the back wheel. Head down to the local Co op tomorrow and see what the chances are of finding the right wheel and peddles see if I can trade this old Huffy Santa Fe I got in the back yard for the parts.
This one is already on CL trying to raise cash for that touring bike.

The other day I had a few nice finds. A sharp long sleeve Mapei/Quick Step/Colnago jersey in my size for $2, a nameless pretty red Gitane mixte for $20, and a even nicer looking 58cm 1983 Centurion Elite GT Touring rig for a "see it to believe" bargain price. The Centurion looks really sharp, and comparing it to the 1984 catalog on the Sheldon Brown site, the only alterations from new it seems to have is a different saddle, missing pedal dust covers, missing brake hoods, and a missing bottle boss bolt on the underside of the down tube. Even the foam bar cover pieces are in super shape. I'm convinced it was PPI'd (Purchased, Parked, and Ignored) before I came across it in a thrift store. I've just given it a basic wiping down and got a little grime off the drive train and components. Some new tires, hoods and tape and it'll be good to go. It even has the original wire (that runs internally through the length of the down tube for a generator) which is pretty cool.
The mixte I don't have pictures of, but here are some of the touring job and the jersey.

Hi. Kinda new here, (for posting anyway). I've always had a fetish for classic lightweights but recently retired and now have time to find and refurbish them. They have gotten scarce (and expensive) around here of late because of demand. Got a "deal" on this Ladies Ironman Expert for $10 from local thrift store because they said it had the wrong fron wheel! No extra charge for lambs wool seat cover.

I thought it was long gone, but an old COTD made it's way back to me today. The 84 Trek 830, pre antelope days. Suntour mech's, bullmoose bars, strawberry red paint, and an aluminum dork disk. Along the way it picked up a Viscount cheapo saddle, and a Post Moderne suspension post. It still rides like it used to. I never did go through all the bearings and install new cables last time. This time I will, because I'm keeping it.,,,,BD
This is the first time I found it.

Those are odd seat/chain stay terminations at the dropouts -- crimped on rather than beveled, filleted or bulleted. That much of it looks cheesy.
