Just bought a mid '80's bianchi, needs some paint work for some chips. Any advice other than using the celeste paint off of BianchiUSA? Primer, good or bad?

After clicking the reply link scroll to the bottom of the page and click the Manage Attachments button. Then, browse to the location of your picture. Then after selecting it click the Upload button. I think previewing may not allow you to see the picture so go ahead and post.
My commuter is an early 80s Bianchi with super record. They are excellent bikes. My Bianchi may well outlast all of the other bikes that I have!

Here it is, bought it off of ebay and the auction didn't have the best pics, once i get it i'll post some better ones. It has some nuovo record components but i don't know if the rear der or the front der is the N.R.
Except in colour and size, that looks alot like my Bianchi. I have not investigated touch-up paint, but I probably should. (Fortunately, chips and nicks do not stand out against Bianchi "charcoal" paint.)

If that is mid 80s then I dunno what I have.It must be older. It's a old bianchi that is dark blue with gold lettering. The dropouts are stamped with Bianchi and it has a weinmann rim in the rear and weinmann brakes. The rear is a bolt on axel and the front it quick release. It has sugino alluminum cranks and a shimano drivetrain but someone told me they thought that the drivetrain was a replacement. The stem is SR and the the hubs and handle bars (aluminum) say something like sahre on them. Can anyone help me itentify the approximate year and value?

personally i would stick with bianchi celeste. if your thinking of primer as a finish color, make sure you spray a solid clearcoat over the top or the primer will wear off. powder coating is always the best way to go as it is much more durable and there is no chance of runs.
i'm building a late 80's bianchi sport sx with some vintage super record parts i've been saving for my girlfriend. i know the sport sx is a lower end frame, so does anyone know if it was built in italy or if it was built in taiwan with the bianchi name?

Looks like my Bianchi, which I converted to a fixed gear a few months ago. I've had mine about 12 years. I got mine for free, but that's another story.
Mine has a tubing sticker that says "Tubing Rinforzati Bianchi Special cromolybdeno Produczione Columbus." I always wondered what type tubing this meant. Someone here posted that this was SLX down, seat and top tube with SL stays.
Looks like a bicycle for a very tall person.
