I ride a 2003 Raleigh C700, and I love it except the suspension seatpost seems absolutely useless, it just bottoms out whenever I sit on it (I'm a big guy at 225) I don't really care if I use a suspension seatpost or not, but I am wondering what would be a good buy. I get a shop discount, so the sky is the limit, I just don't know what to get, since there are so many choices.

Silly question have you checked the bottom of the post for an adjusting allen head bolt?

Yeah, I've already adjusted the thing to make it as stiff as possible, and it still bottoms out. Any advice?

Seatposts are one of those things where you can spend $40 or $140, the differences are pretty marginal.
Fit a standard non supension post, of good-enough quality. Make sure the layback is suitable to engage your saddle rails, somewhere near the middle. You can get in-line clamps or ones set 1" or more back.
The style of clamp with 2 adjustment bolts is quite good.
