Pacific Northwest - Bet the "west siders" don't experience this

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I got out today in 38 degree temps for the first ride in 3 weeks thanks to family and work obligations. I don't envy the west side riders who have to put up with the rain and traffic while I'm on back country roads.
However, today was an experience as two miles into the ride I had to stop for five minutes for a 150 head cattle drive . The cows, of course, couldn't figure out what I was and started freaking out a little, and then I had to go about 1/2 mile dodging cow pies  before I was in the clear. Such fun :) - at least it wasn't as stressful as encountering the 2000 lb bull in the middle of the road this summer as I came around a corner.
sounds cool - in downtown seattle we have something similar: a daily million-head cattle drive of pedestrians!
at least they don't leave the patties behind.. but they do take a while to cross the road.

We had frost this morning.
And... I got stuck behind a reticulated bus today; it was stopped every block, pulling over just the front portion of the bus and keeping the behind-the-reticulation portion in the bike lane. Of course traffic wouldn't let me by the bus....
I'll trade you, 120 head of cattle + cow pies for the reticulated bus + traffic?

I'm still looking for the dead rat Matt spotted on the I90 bridge last week.

Graham Watson has a great picture of an ONCE rider, stuck behind a sheep herd, from the Criterium International in France a few years ago.

Haha, I saw that rat/mouse on my ride the Sunday. Wondered what he was doing all the way out there, well, before he got squished.

Articulated. And yeah, those things suck. We've got them all over Redmond, and they have a horrible tendency to make sweeping wide right turns from outside the left boundary line of the RTO lane (because they can't make the corner otherwise) without using a turn signal. Right after they've passed me.
Nothing says awesome like having the front end of the bus almost right-hook ya, and the back end of it is still boxing in your escape route.

Articulated, got it, thanks.
