Cyclocross - Who makes "off-the-peg" titanium cyclocross frames?

All the manufacturers that I can find seem to be custom manufacturers.

I did find this (http://www.wired.com/reviews/product/moots_psychlox) one, but it's $6000. A little out of my price range, though I understand that ti frames are pricey anyway.

I'm not sure what 'off the peg' means, but I've been riding that Motobacane from BD for a couple of months and have to say that for the money it can't be beat.

If you go custom your looking at $1300 minimum for the frame only.

I forgot to subscribe to this thread after I posted the question and I thought that it got no responses. Glad I checked it again. You guys just blew my mind. How many freaking bike manufacturers are out there. Seems like every day I learn about a new one.

What I meant by "off the peg" is that I don't want a custom bike. I was trying to be fancy.

I'll tell you, those Van Nichols bikes are pretty sweet, and that Dean Torrey's soft tail is something I'd never seen before. Pretty neat.

My big problem now is that I want discs on this bike and only two or three of the ones listed offer discs. So I'm reduced to one of those.

And kudos to the Motobecane suggestion. For my ti bike, though, I want it to be as bare of decals as possible. Is it possible to remove those decals from the Motobecane frame, or are they under a clear coat? Not that they look bad, I just want the bike to be bare. If so, I'll buy that one and remove the decals.

I removed the top decals from my motobacane using a 'gaffiti wipe' which is basicly paint stripper. I took me less than half an hour to get the top tube decals off and about five minutes to remove the decals from the wheels and some of the other little decals. I also too the paint stripper to the ritchey logos on the seat post and changed out the stem for a Ti colored one. It looks sweet.
I really don't mind the Motobacane on teh down tube, they did a nice job with that one. The only thing you can't remove is the logo on the fork which is under clearcoat, but that is not too bad.

I also wanted to got he disc route and even went as far as getting the brakes and the whhelset in, but the inner weight weenie in me decided the wheels were too heavy and I've put the project on hold for now. Two races under my belt so far and the braking witht he new Avids has been sufficient for the traction of the tires. I still might go the disc route, but I also might swap out the wheels for carbon tubies too, we'll see how the budget looks

One last question, since you have obviously bought from bd before. Is it possible to just buy the frame? Or is it all-or-nothing. I'd be swapping so much stuff out that it would be best for me just to buy the frame.

Your other option would be going with one of the cheaper "custom" places that offer disc mounts for a little bit extra.

I know that they had talked about doing just the frame but the cost was going to be like $1200 for just the frameset and you coudl get the bike for like $1600 so it was kinda a no brainer about the full build. I swapped a bunch out too and will even tually get to the whole group, so I felt the same way as you. Honestly though, the wheelset is really nice and a full Ultegra group is not too bad. I swapped in some old Record shifters and run teh Jtek shiftmat with no problems. It keep the options open for wheelsets.

Small swedish bike company called Tiarrow. Dunno about availability on them, last i heard they were having delays from factory but its disc only cross frames.

Mine is old version and has an mtb tiarrow fork on it (thus the great tire clearence). The new design got a level toptube and is very nice! Pricing is great for titanium atleast..

I have the motoecane ti cross as well. I'm almost done rebuilding it as I stripped the whole bike and sold everything off. I've so far sold the groupset and wheels and have recouped about 700. I still have the fork, bars, stem and post to sell as well. Even without that, it came to about 1000 for the frame, which is IMO a nice frame. Give them a call and see if you can just get the frame...but if you're willing to spend some time selling, it's really not that bad of a deal.

I'm also building this think up with avid discs...and while the discs are heavier, I was still able to build the thing to a little more than 16 lb.

You beat me to it. You can buy an entire Ultegra bike for less than most framesets.

How is the Jtek holding up in cross conditions? I would really like to run a shimano drivetrain with campy shifters, but I was worried about how the shifting would be for cross.

I've not had it out in anything really muddy yet, but in the snow and sand it has done really well. The bike shifts as well as it did with the stock shifters.
I really like the campy shifters and running the shimano drivetrain saved me several hundred bucks, plus allows me to find wheels more easily. The biggest bonus though is having the brake release on the shifters. It makes popping the cables off wayy easier.

Dudes... The motobecane looks bad to the bone. Do you question the quality of the fork at all? Or is it structurally sound? Anyone find any luck on frame and fork combo only?

I have a ritchey 130mm disc hub that I stumbled upon on ebay and it would go nice with all the ritchey components on the bike.

The frame is light enough...I never got a chance to weigh it in my overzealous frenzy to get my bike built...but I built the whole thing up to ~16lb with discs. It's the Motobecane frame in 56cm...I just took all the decals off.
