B20 block, B16 head. Will it work fairly easily or is a lot of ****ing around?
And which transmission will work best with it? I was kind of hoping for the six speed from the Type R, but I don't think that will work with a B series. This is in an EK Civic hatch with a D16 stock.
it's no different than an LS/VTEC swap, really. there are kits available to make it easy.
you have to add the oil feed for VTEC to work, basically.
by "6-speed from a Type R," i assume you're speaking of the RSX Type R. no, that trans won't work. the RSX has a completely different engine.
any hydraulic-clutch B-series trans will work. i'd suggest one from an Integra GSR.
you'll need the B-series engine mounts and a reprogrammed B-series ECU. there are some wiring changes at the ECU plugs, too. there may be a possibility of making your D-series ECU work, but i'm not an OBD II guy.
if you've got the cash, i'd consider building the bottom end. the B16 head flows better and has a higher rev potential than the B20 bottom. plenty of torque, but if you don't watch your revs a stock CRV bottom end could do bad things.
do a google search for "CRVTEC" and "LS/VTEC." should answer all your questions better than me.
