A friend of mine picked this up at a flea market and asked if I can find out anything about it, I guess he needs to know if its anything special? I know its not "Paramount" special, but who knows better than you guys :)

All right, all right. It's a nicie cheapie ;)

Can't be that bad though. Decent Suntour drive and crankset, and centerpulls. Dump the steel rims for aluminum, and you'll have something quite decent.

It's entry-level, but appears to be in good shape, and looks like a perfectly rideable steed to me.

At a guess, I'd say it's circa mid-70s.

Looks like a decent boom era bike.

I think, at some point, Maruishi became Jamis.

Probably very late 1970's or early 80's I guess. And, yup, an entry level one. Not too many Marus around, and there isn't really enough that turn up to sort out the serial numbers. Looks like it is in nice shape, and I like those crank arms with the name. Some Maruishi's have the name on the front part of the clamp area on the stem.

Is that a kangaroo sticker on the lower head tube lug?

Thanks all for the info/comments :thumb: The bike really does belong to my buddy and not me. Yes, the bikes got little Kangaroos all over it!?

I've got a mid 1980's Maruishi catalog, and it says that the Kangaroo logo represented Maruishi's policy "To remain one jump ahead of the competition." :)

(The catalog is without the 303 Road Ace model and others named similarly so the model name/numbering obviously changed by then.)

My lbs has an old Maruishi track bike stowed away in their basement. It could stand a good cleaning, but looks cool otherwise...
