same, I'd like a summary. I got to the part where another doctor said the victim should tell his story to help him recover.

Hi Marvin,
Interesting stuff - especially the 3 stage recovery process. I like the idea of 'establishing safety', and the third stage of 'engaging in the world'. Can you give more of an insight into stage 2 - 'telling their story' and the role this plays?

There's an article on a similar sports psychology topic here 'Dealing with Trauma' (http://adventurousminds.co.uk/?cat=6). It's not specifically for cycling, but if you read it the principles are the same.

Kim,

Thanks. "Telling the story" could be verbal, or it could be written, or it could be conveyed in another form or art....in any form, this is a powerful way that we humans make meaning of our experience. At the level of neurons, this literally changes our brains. Giving "voice" to our experience in whatever form works for each unique individual is literally healing...when the individual is ready.

Best,
Marvin
