Im just wondering how much air i should have in m tires....

Should I keep them slightly flat? Slightly over filled?

What is best for snow/ice?

Thanks

Do you have studs along the sides only or down the center as well?

[no studs down the center and the tire should be slightly under-inflated during icy conditions to allow better contact with studs]

How much do you weigh?

[the more you weigh, the higher the air pressure; for example, one tire goes like this:]

A 200 lb rider would inflate these to about 45psi. A 140 lb rider would inflate to about 35psi. These are my estimates. The best way to determine optimum pressure is trial and error.

Both answers will affect the pressure required; check the tire manual.

i had to make several runs to find out my own comfort level with studded.

after much tries, i found out i like them filled to the max, to get good speed, and grip on the ice/snow

but i need to be careful and avoid making sharp turns, which normally would be possible, because the metal studs keeps the tires away from the road, and is extremely easy to slid off when there is no ice/snow on the road.

same as normal mtb tires. less for snow for traction. otherwise run them normal pressure

I run my Nokians 35mm W106's at max pressure. 65lbs. They roll better and are still plenty squishy. Although I'm big. Like all tires they slowly loose a little pressure over the days. I usually just top them off once a week. I've never had problems losing traction on pavement when cornering with them at high pressure, they grip fine, but again it might be becasue I'm 225lbs.

I ride my Nokian 35 W106's at 75 psi when the roads are dry and deflate to 65 psi when there's fresh snow and 60 psi when there's compacted snow/ice. Yes, I know the recommended max pressure is 65 psi so I'm being a crash test dummy, a few peas shy of a full pod. I'll let you know when/how they fail if I survive.

I run my Marathon Winters over max pressure on dry pavement (5 over max of 85 psi). I lower them to 60 on bad days.
