This is the Alan Shorter bike custom bike (from London) circa 72. When I decided her Nuovo Record bits and tubular wheels weren't for me I posted her on Ebay. After getting a top bid not much higher than half her parts were worth I sold them off separately.
Since then I had decided to rebuild her cheaply for resale. Instead I found an eight speed Campy Chorus group with a few extras for $300. Here she is rebuilt - and renamed Pumpkin. I have not ridden her yet and she needs to have her RD straightend (not shifting properly). Note the camo tape and matching annodized 105 brake calipers. The suede saddle may be replaced if Pumpkin stays in my stable.

Beautiful! That camo tape works well... the left brake hood appears to be floating

Thanks Yen,

Did you notice the green annodied brake caliper? Both the tape and caliper were oddballs waiting for a home. I often buy discounted styles/colors of tape, then keep them for months - until I find the perfect use  For example:

You always have such great looking bikes. If you ever have one in a 51cm size let me know:D

Pardon my ignorance- but what is the bump/lever on the inside of the hoods?

That's the shifter button, usually thumb operated. Upshifts on the right, downshifts on the left if I remember correctly (it's been 20 years now . . . yikes . . . since I've used shifters like that)!

On Campy stuff, you shift down with the thumb and up with a lever UNDER the brake lever, instead of the whole lever moving.

Particularly on the left side, where it permits feathering of the derailleur cage position, this system is superior to that of the competition. :)

I noticed that when installing the brifters. The FD (left side) has is ratcheted across the full range - very nice. My last two builds have brifters - I usually use bar ends. Brifters are expensive new (or used) and often don't work if you buy them used.

I like that the brake levers work normally on this 8 speed Campy version.

No, I didn't notice the green caliper, that's a nice touch. Your builds are truly special, one-of-a-kind eye candy. Have you ever purchased from http://www.purelycustom.com?

Speaking of candy.... I love that pink candy-stripe tape!
