My girlfriend and I will be in Anaheim 28 and 29. We are staying at the Quality Inn at 1441 s manchester avenue. Is there any good riding starting from here? We are thinking about a ride early on the 28th and/or 29th, weather permitting. Any Info, links to rides or organized rides would be greatly appreciated.

We are from the Bay Area. Thanks for your help :thumb:

You'll be close to the Santa Ana River Trail, and not too far from the wide bikelaned boulevards of Tustin/Irvine. Here's a ride with an example of both, with a little of the coast thrown in:

The only thing the above ride misses out on is the rural Santiago Canyon Road:

Definitely do some riding at the beach, if it's at all possible, even if you have to drive your bikes down there. L.A. isn't the greatest place, but our beach rides are wonderful.

Hi,

Here's part of a loop that my club does:

We call it the Brea Canyon Loop. It's a reasonably nice ride with a bit of climbing and some fun twisty roads. You can try going north on Harbor to get there but I really don't know what traffic and bike lanes are like on Harbor. Maybe Mr. Beanz can suggest a good way to head north from your hotel.

Thanks for all the input so far. We will try and get out on Friday and Saturday mornings, early. Driving from the Grand Canyon to Anaheim today. Looks like the roads will be well washed for us :)

Enjoy

If your looking to do a century I will be riding one this Saturday from my home (about 2 miles from your hotel), most likely be a flat one since I'll be on the fixed gear. Your welcome to join, should be a good group.

We won't have the time to do a century. Sounds like fun, have a great ride.

Orange County has some great riding, but you will want to get out of Anaheim. The roads in Anaheim where not designed with cycling in mind. Irvine, which is 8-10 miles away has very good riding with bike trails and bike lanes down all of the major roads. Irvine roads also have great landscaping with green spaces down each side of the road and down the middle of the road as well.

Here is a link to the bicycle club of Irvine. They have organized rides and will have a ride on Friday and Saturday, if it isn't raining.

Also, check at this map of the Irvine Bikeways, they are great riding and there is about a 150 miles of Bikeways in Irvine.

We made our way down to the bike path by the "Honda Arena" and headed towards the beach. We did not have the time to ride all the way to the beach but it was a very nice ride without cars :thumb: Thanks for all the help.

We will be riding again tomorrow morning.

Good deal, man. Tomorrow head North on the path and check that out. The Katella entrance is about smack-dab in the middle of the path.

We could not make it on Friday, so only one day of riding. Better than none :D

Drove home on Saturday to beat the traffic and get organized before work on Monday. Had a great time at Disneyland with the kids.

Thanks again for all the ride information.
