Ahh, I remember the H1 and H2. Before I got obsessed with road bikes, I was obsessed with H-Series Kaws. Had several H1s, H2s, and a couple of S2s. I seem to have obsessions with filling a garage with two wheeled vehicles!

Thanks for the chuckle 383. May I call you 383?

I got excited when I saw the title, thinking there was a Kawasaki-branded pedal bike out there somewhere. I can see it now, Mean green w/purple decals and a white saddle.

Kawasaki did make a full suspension BMX bike back in the 70s I believe. I know that Yamaha did.

http://www.bmxnonstop.com/oldschool/kawasaki/index.html

I knew I remembered Kawasakis from my BMX haze, I mean days.

I used to ride a Graco full suspension and had a Webco Replica with Tuff wheels for everyday riding and a set of Arayas for race day.

Yep. I've always been a Honda CB dude, we got some other stuff too. I like cheaply-had japanese lightweights, whether they got a motor or not :) The garage is filling fast and we ain't even got a car in there right now

Norton Commando 850 Interstate, Suzuki GS550 triple, Triumph Daytona - and the one that put me in hospital for months on end was a little Suzi GT185K twin back in 1975! Gave up the powered bikes after that, it hurts too much!!!

I had a KZ1000 MkII, then an LTD 440, KZ550, GPz550, GPz1100, Triumph Tiger 750, finally a Low Rider, which sits in storage to this day....::(
I can attest to the wickedness inherent in the Suzuki PE250. You can ride it straight out of the back of a pickukp truck.
You may need spare collarbones.

Mrs. Tunes is not a fan of motorized contraptions on less than 4 wheels.

Mmm, gpz1100. Fun bike. I rode my 85 Yamaha FJ1200 from Philly to San Diego in the summer of '06. I miss that bike, but I sold it when I got there. Now I have a Suzuki GSF1200s Bandit that spent most of this past summer parked in my garage as I was riding my bicycles. I've also had a bunch of older CB's, Zuk GS's, and even vintage Vespa's and mopeds. Anything with two wheels and I'm game.
ANyway, back to bicyles for me. I can own 10 of them and not get in trouble with the fiancee.

+1 SW Wisconsin to Camp Lejuene on a '68 CB450 in March '80. 30 hours. BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ.:twitchy:
She knows what cycles she dislikes; the ones with "motor" in the name.
Bikes? They are only colored. The red one, the black one. Benign. Hers is green. All is OK. :D

I bought the GPz1100 because CA was supposed to be mandating catalytic converters on motorcycles and I wanted a fast pre-converter bike.
I bought it, kept it unridden while I spent time in the Middle East, then Far East, came home to 900's that would outrun it. Sold it for the HD.

Just to round out the motor bicycle thread, several Ducatis (bevel and rubber band), Honda, Suzuki (and remember with fondness the Montesa, Bultaco, BSA, Yamaha TY, and Moto Guzzi).....like Doritos and bicycles, you can't have just one.....

Which one was the Widowmaker? Was that the H2 Triple?By the speed wobbles I got at 140 mph, until I put Cinelli forks on it, I'd say the H1 would qualify.

Sometimes I wonder if the guy I sold it to lived very long.

The day I sold it, he asked to drive it. I said no. I put him on the back and was clocked at 135+ on E Outer Drive in Detroit. The cop didn't give me a ticket because he said I'd be dead before the court date.

The guy on the back handed over cash, asking price.

I switched to bicycles after that.

I went 50+mph two days ago with 2manybikes on a downhill in AZ (according to his Garmin).

I was on the brakes, because of traffic.

Stinking traffic.

I sold my GFS600S Bandit this summer. After getting back into bicycles 2 years ago my Bandit was mostly just sitting and collecting dust. I did a few trips and even a few track days on it. Bandits can be very versatile bikes.

Which one was the Widowmaker? Was that the H2 Triple?

About 20 years ago, I borrowed my friend's H2 triple for a wild ride down the interstate at 140. At that speed, it is very difficult to weave through the traffic. The bike wants to stand up and go straight, as you try to convince it to dip and turn in time to avoid the next car. More amazing to me was the acceleration. That was quite a machine. Widowmaker is an apt description as any, especially since I wore only jeans and a t-shirt; young and foolish...

I remember them, too! I liked bikes that could keep their front wheels on the ground, like the Suzuki Triples, 'specially the GT550. With a set of extractors and K&Ns it hauled.

Great story! But just think how fast you could go down that hill on a nice, rigid Mondonico!

Damn right you can't just have one. In my garage at the moment:

'98 Harley FXSTS (Springer)
'95 Triumph Trident (just turned over 100k)
'69 Triumph Bonneville Cafe Racer (my Rocker bike)
'69 Honda S-90 (the wife's college bike)
'30 Indian 101 Scout

In the past I've had seven other Triumphs ('00 Tiger, '95 Speed Triple, '79 Bonnie, '74 Bonnie, '72 Trident, '72 Tiger, '68 Tiger hardtail chopper), Ducati 906 Paso (a blue one), 2 BMWs ('85 K75 and a '76 R100/6), Kawasaki ZX-6R custom streetfighter, an Ironhead Sportster, Yamaha XS500 cafe racer, Honda CB350 cafe racer, BSA A50R Royal Star . . . . . . and loads more. At one point I had ten in the garage, eight of them vintage.

Still riding, but it's a pretty pitiful show when you've put down 9300 miles on the motorcycles and 6300 miles on the bicycles.

Since we're on the subject of vintage Kow's, a couple of my scariest MC rides were on a stripped down, bored and ported Kow triple with tune pipes, and a KZ900.

I have a picture of a stretched out, turbo Z1 dragbike that a guy brought to Royal Oak here in Michigan for a bikenight, after truding through fields of crotchrockets, it was a welcome find. I need to get that bike off my brother's camera.

In my youth, I raced Woodward every week in 1969-70. I was beaten once, a Harley w/Corvair engine.

I routinely beat even Honda 750 triples. My 500 Kaw triple was a freak. I had two friends with identical bikes.

It was never even close.

I geared mine down (up?), less acceleration, higher top end, and put clip-on bars on it in a futile attempt to keep the front wheel on the ground.

Of course, at the same time I ran bored out jets and expansion chambered exhaust. Premium fuel was .19 back then.

I like my De Rosa a lot more, and it's just as exciting.

It's nice being the engine, even when you are old!

I love two wheels.

Long term relationships = 1969 Honda CB-750 SOHC
1966 Honda CB-160
1955 Simplex Sportsman
1983 CB-1100-F (Blue ones are fastest)

These are ones I have had since new or near new other than the Simplex and the 1100-F.

Like push bikes, they don't take up much room, so why not keep them?

Also, like others on this thread, I have made great memories (or lurid ones) on Kawasaki 2-strokes. The oft forgotten Avenger 350 with disc-valves gave one amazing hit when "on the pipe." As to H-2's, H-2 stories should not be told to impressionable young people, even with parental consent.

383 S-10,

Isn't the F-11 the Bighorn 350? I had a friend who raced one competitively in AMA pro road races against Yamaha TD-250's and the liike "back in the day." The 2nd generation of water cooled TZ's finally pushed him to the back of the back. He had one last great outing at Laguna Seca in '75 or '76 where he was top tier out of a field of nearly fifty.
