Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Was on my way home from work this evening and saw that there was a new bike shop in the works in Tacoma! It's on Puyallup Ave near the Tacoma dome and called Tacoma Bike. Front window says opening in fall and looks like its going to be a fairly large one at that.

Stopped by this shop today.....VERY big! Mostly Giant, some Marin soon to have Rocky Mountain and the owner said they will soon have custom frames from a builder in California. Still getting started as far as filling the place up with inventory.....He had a fit station and some some nice bling too (New Campy Super Record). The shop has a fantastic view which is kinda weird to say I guess.....Nice shop!
Dropped in a few days ago, nice people, hope they do well.

I was just emptying pics from the ol' camera and realized I had a few from the opening gala event. I figured I'd give this thread a bump and put them to good use. I must say I had a wonderful time. The opening was catered and had an open bar which was really cool and out of the ordinary. I got to meet some great people and I gorged myself and took advantage of the bar consuming copious amounts of finely crafted micro brews and some wine made by Eisentraut (http://www.classicrendezvous.com/USA/Eisentraut_main.htm) (the frame builder). I had a chance to sit down with Brent Steelman (http://www.steelmancycles.com/) (the frame builder) and had a delightful conversion about all things bike and even chickens! Great guy I tell ya and an awesome frame builder to boot!
Anyways....how 'bout some pics? Sorry they suck.

Good times! Mike (the owner of Tacoma Bike) is an awesome guy and has been in the bike biz in some fashion or another for a very long time. The head tech has been wrenching for 16 years or so and knows his stuff too.
So ya! Nice shop...Nice people.

As a matter of fact I saw him Sunday at the swap meet...He's doing just fine. I think he works at a gym now in Bonney Lake.

Nice pics of the opening party! BTW, was it open to the public or was it a special invite? I would have went if I had read this thread earlier.

Uhm....I dunno.:o
I heard about it from a friend who invited me to go so I did. I hope I didn't crash a private party 'cause I was there 'til 10pm socializing.
