Why does a chicken cross the road? To get under my bike wheel, if possible. I never thought I'd come across a "flock" of chickens crossing an urban Atlanta neighborhood street only 3 miles from the Capital Dome. But I guess that's what makes life fun.

I've never dealt with chicken, but geese are a regular in my quiet suburb.

If chickens were harmless little fellas then why do so many men choke their chicken?

On one of the local MUPs here, there are wild chickens. They're probably dangerous if hit at high speed but the fact that this is a MUP means that speeds are often limited. However, the thing you really have to watch out for are the little kids who belong to parents that think it'd be cute to have them follow along after the chickens and feed them stuff. I typically slow to a crawl near that area.

I have a few ideas of my own on the answer to that question, but perhaps they're best kept to myself right now.

In answer to the original question, I've not had to deal with a chicken yet, but my old commute used to get quite a few brushturkeys near Burleigh Head. These things are a little bigger than your standard chicken, and are totally psychotic!

Hmm, I don't have to worry about chickens here either. I do have to watch out for pheasants, deer, and anitlope. Here soon, I'll have to add rattle snakes to that list!

They can be really dangerious especially when fired out of cannons! Yep, that's what I said. A group of engineers working on the bullet train if France were trying to find a windshield that would not break should a bird strike it at 250mph. Everytime they would fire a chicken from a cannon it would shatter the windshields. Finally the windshield manufacture sent their engineers to check out their testing protocall and discovered a flaw in the test procedures. It appeared the train designers were firing FROZEN chickens at the windshields! One of the windshield engineers remarked that it would be unlikely that the train would strike a flying frozen chicken!

The story as I first heard it was that the FAA lent a chicken cannon to British locomotive engineers who were desiging new windshields for a train engine. There are many variations of this story. One swaps NASA for FAA and the French for the Brits. There's one that involves Canadians too. At anyrate these are mainly urban myths/legends. There is however some truth behind all this and this page (http://home.xnet.com/~warinner/chickens.html) helps debunk the myth.

Erf! Sorry... I guess I will refrain from talking about the aircraft carrier and the lighthouse now. :)
