Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - Singlespeed and Fixed Gear Magazines

I'm an photographer and I looove to take pictures of bike and bike culture. Is there a magazine out there dedicated to Singlespeed and Fixed Gear Magazines out there? If so will you give me a link to their Website?

I've actually been wondering this too... I'm a photographer as well and have already done a few projects relating to bike culture. Not to steal your limelight or anything... But it's a good question. I'd even just be down to read some FG magz.

The only one I know of is Cog. Pretty cool magazine.. but it's only quarterly.

is cranked a fg mag? or just a bike mag?

non the less id like to read a fg mag but theres none around here to buy not even the quarterly.

Magazines are unfortunately a dying.. breed... I guess, because of the internet. Why buy something in print, which costs the authors money, when you can get it and publish it for free on the internet? Blogs are seriously starting to outweigh magazines in terms of influence too. More people can access a blog than a mag.

Kinda doesn't surprise me there aren't many FG mags because the popularity of FG riding sprung up during the rise of the internet generation and it's not likely that it would've developed in print when everything was already online... Unlike other bike mags which have existed since before the internet and probably have developed a means of sustaining themselves.

We as a community here could easily start a sort of definitive blog about FG riding... There are plenty out there but many of them are just one guy with one opinion, which is kind of limiting. One will be anti-hipster, anti-tarck, one will be catering to that lifestyle... We could do one with both, make it picture heavy, etc. Just an idea. :)

Zines were the method of subculture literature in the 80's and 90's, and like it or not, blogs serve that purpose, perhaps even better, for this decade we're in right now. It might be better not to resist the change and instead embrace it. I dunno.

I read lots of blogs and lots of magazines. I like blogs, but they don't have very strict editorial standards (if any) Furthermore, blogs are a little more difficult to read on the ****ter (where I personally get a lot of reading done)

In the long run, I think newspapers will get hurt the most by the internet, but magazines will be around for a while. The only reason there's no fixed gear magazine is because it's only been popular for a couple years. Give it a little bit longer there be a few that sprout up.

Blogs won't take over magazines and newspapers in influence until bloggers can figure out a way to make money off blogging. So they can quit their day jobs and do real reporting instead of commenting on the reporting in...magazines and newspapers.
