Hey,
While hunting for my weight weenie build I came across a company that makes new French threaded BB's. Granted they are pricey but they appear to be really high end and offer an alternative to Phil.....

Not the Ti Phil......They cost $230 with rings (not including tool). The Ti Royce costs $176......Complete.

Has anyone tried these? I'm curious, but once I'm spending that much I feel compelled to go with the brand I know will add the most value to the bike (i.e. Phil).

Maybe I'm missing something, but the vast majority of bikes that I see here needing French BB's are not worth a third of the price for one of these new BB's.

High-end Peugeots, Moto's, and Gitanes excepted of course. :)

Just checked the Velo Orange blog and they have a French threaded BB prototype in hand! It won't be long 'til they have an affordable quality sealed BB in stock! Man, I love that guy!

There ya go. I have a PX-10 that could use a new BB, for instance. Among other things. I thought I had a Moto Jubilee Sport, but it's going to have to go as it's smaller than I anticipated. I have an NS-22 (heh) on the way. It's nice to see better availability of parts for old French stuff.

That's going to be awesome. Which reminds me, I need to buy a Stronglight crank puller while VO still has em in stock. The one I've been using isn't quite right. :twitchy:

I was turned on to this unit by a fellow CV'er when looking for BB french for a project. It's from Velo. I have yet to buy it and have not seen any reviews on it but it looks like it will cure some issues for me on my upgrade. I have not read the blog so don't know if it's the same unit.

The Edco works for me, but I think it's too long for anything but a triple.

Nice crankset. I don't know campy stuff well, but I also didn't know they made a chrome crankset.

I believe Dirtdrop chromed an aluminum NR crankset.

Campag did make a steel 3-spoke crankset in the Nuovo Gran Sport group.

I believe that someone in the U.K. chromed my crankset. I got it from Hilary Stone.

I used to briefly have two of them, NOS. I sold them on the 'bay to finance other stuff. One went to the Pacific Northwest, the other to Japan.
