Cyclocross - 2007 Giant TCX, any opinions out there

I'm asking coz my LBS is offering a good price on this bike for a 2007 NOS model.

My needs are:

Light trails, but I'll see how far I can push it up steep inclines on muddy grass.
Require fenders front and rear.
Would be nice to have rack mounts (but no big deal if not available).
I'm not gonna enter any races.[/B]

My current road bike is a 58cm, for CX do I need a smaller frame?

Should work great for trails and races. I don't see any braze-ons for fenders or a rack. You could always P clips to mount the fenfers or get SKS RaceBlade (http://www.sks-germany.com/sks.php?l=en&a=product&i=5288300000) clip-ons.

Fox CX you'll need a slightly smaller frame.

I just got rid of an '07 TCX, the tt length on these is really long...

The bike rode really nice for the money, just don't expect to be able to shoulder it in a cross race easily as the compact frame makes it a bit tight. If you're not really going to race it much, I'd say go for it!

I'm planning on getting an '09 for next year. I was worried about the compact frame (size s) but I had no problem with it when trying it out. I like that all of the cables are on the top tube and also I had the least amount of toe overlap with the frame.

The only thing I didn't like was no disc tabs and the integrated headset.

You guys are right, there's no space for full-size fenders. I was thinking about race blades for my road bike but figured if I ever get a CX bike with fenders, then I can just use that for non-summer rides. Anyway, my LBS had one TCX left in stock, a 2007 NOS with 40% off so I was very tempted, but the lack of fender support...

look at a Soma Double Cross....

for what it is worth i ride a size 58cm 2006 giant tcr and my old cross bike 08 redline conquest pro was a 58cm and my new 09 giant tcx is a size large , i personally did not go a size smaller , good luck

I'm kinda half looking at a Tricross Comp, not too serious about getting it due to price even for 2008 models.
