Several days ago, I noticed in my Yahoo email, a "failure notice" that an email had failed to go through to some addresses. The only thing was, I hadn't sent the email. It was a generic recommendation for the recipients to go to "www.bailecn.com" for electronics purchases (which I would heartily recommend NOT doing!). This was sent to everyone in my Yahoo address book.

Why I post it here- upon googling that website, I find some other mentions of similar incidents. But curiously, they are from Bentrideronline and teamestrogen- other bicycling sites! So in some way, this scam is targeting people with bicycling connections- maybe harvesting emails from here???

Anyway, in the meantime- be sure your address book is backed up, because it gets deleted when this happens. Put your own email in your address book, so if this happens, you'll know about it.

Don't bother - it's just a program designed to spoof your e-mail addy. Fairly common. Just delete it.

:thumb: I get these at work all the time. Also FWIW the more oddball your email address the less likely it is to spoof it. Example awilson@yourmail-dot-com is much more likely to be spoofed than 73skidooW4@yourmail-dot-com. This according to the IT guy at work.

I think not. I have gotten junk emails here at work that appear to be from me. But this one was actually included in my "sent items" folder, and like I say, my contacts were deleted as well. And, some of my contacts actually did receive the email from "me", too.

A--Ask the boss and the IT guy about your server. That's not a BF problem unless it's noticed here. If you have concerns the least you can do is contact Tom Stormcrowe and he will have it looked into.

Like others have said this is not confined to one site so it's probably a common exploit. the best that you can do is always make sure you have your anti-virus/malware and firewall set correctly and not in a vulnerable position.

Best of all, if it's not threatening, DELETE IT, otherwise report it and repeat that if it keeps coming back.
NEVER use the unsubscribe option and always ask the boss about what you don't understand. It may be YOUR account but it's HIS computer!

I used to get spam that was supposedly from Viagra.com and I banished it to spam. It morphed a couple times and somebody out there in Microsoftland killed it. There are a bunch of people making bucks stopping this stuff and when they need your help they make a PR release and it's on Yahoo! and MSN and Google and AP and TV fast.

There might be some issues with the version of vBulletin they are/were running.

About a month or so ago I had exactly the same thing happen to my Yahoo email account. I didn't know anything had occurred until one of my friends replied back asking if I had a new job.

I checked my sent file and everyone in my address book had received that email. I then noticed my address book had been wiped clean. Luckily, I hadn't deleted the email so I was able to easily rebuild my address book.
