Mountain Biking - no more death pedals!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I switched out my toe staps for some SPD welgo clipless pedals. SO much easier it get in and out of. I think my body will like the fact im not falling over because i cant get my feet out anymore
I actually just bought some clipless pedals last week. I havent had a chance to install them yet. I was also using baskets. Any suggestions for a first time user

an old pro racer taught me how to use clipless. There are 2 ways to learn how to use those:
1) just put them on, and go riding.. Eventually you will think you got use to them, and will become complacent, and you will forget to get out of them until it is too late and will fall over. After you fall twice you will never again forget...
2) Get on a trainer or just hold on to something (in you privacy of your garage) and just get in and out of the pedals for hundreds of times, until you think you got it and it is a reflex. Now go out riding, and inevitably you will become complacent, and you will forget to get out of them until it is too late and will fall over. After you fall twice you will never again forget...

Yup yup, I took these off my road bike because i got some look style pedals. They are pretty easy to use, spd's i mean. Clip and go
Riding around in a nice soft grassy park will make the learning curve a little less physically painful.

I'm confused. Are they Look style or are they SPD style?

The mountain bike got the SPD style that were ON the road bike, and the road bike is getting some look style's as soon as the UPS man comes :D

I think you were just too used to clipless from your road riding that you couldn't figure out the idea of pulling your foot back, rather than up to get out. :D
Everytime I think about getting clipless pedals, I have some sort of crash and end up thinking, "Man, it would've sucked to fall like that not be able to unclip in time."

Your right lol, everytime i was about to fall..i tired to rotate my foot out and BAM! fell over..i just got sick of it lol
i'm currently using the basket that came with my sirrus. it's nice, i like it.. but the only thing i didn't like is when i need to go in a hurry.. it's kinda hard to put my foot into the basket. i tried to ride it without the basket.. but it was kinda hard to pedal.. as a matter of fact, my foot felt naked without the basket. lol. :p
