So i have decided to put 700c wheels on my Raleigh designed for 27" wheels.

I was wondering what size tires I should look to get, i figure i will have that extra 8mm so i can get a little fatter tires for a smoother ride.

Go with 25s or 28s, the 28s should give you a comfy ride and don't look really fat like Mt Bike tires at all.

I've got a 68 Raleigh grand prix with 35's on it. Those are pretty tight. I'd say 38's would be the absolute limit on mine.

no I meant that I am putting 700c wheels on my frame designed for 27" wheels.

oh. I've had a few beers.

up to 35-38s will work just fine. really depends on what kind of ride you want: comfortable and slow or fast and bumpy. Durability, tread/slick, puncture-resistance, cost, and style are also factors.

And how the hell do you know this? The OP doesn't even state which rim he has let alone the width.
