hello
does anyone out there have a ATLANTIS touring bike???? if so how do you like the bike? do you use it for fully loaded touring and does it handle the load? what front and rear racks are you using? why did you choose this bike over other touring bikes??

I don't have one (yet), so I can't help you there, but if you click on the link "search the forums" at the top of this page and type the word Atlantis into the Search By Keyword box, you'll get a lot of useful info.
Also, you can download a road test review of the Atlantis from the archives of the Adventure Cyclist (the magazine of the Adventure Cycling Association); go to http://www.adventurecycling.org/library/index.cfm enter Atlantis in the search box.
Hope this helps!

Bought mine 5 years ago as it's beautiful and Grant's designs have always had great reputations. I love mine. Built it with a Rivendell supplied DirtDrop bar, Sugino cranks and fenders, and an assortment of parts from the basement stash.
No long tours yet, but I do a lot of long day trips and shopping runs on it. Right now I've got a Jandd rear rack and a Carradice saddlebag on it..

I can't recount happy days of touring on my Atlantis... mine's less than a week old. I can tell you why I bought one, however. I wanted a better fit than my old tourer could offer. I had swapped out the seatpost, stem, and handlebars, but it was still too small. It wasn't a spur of the moment decision. I had put over 7,000 miles of loaded touring on the bike, and I could make a good case for a better fitting, more comfortable ride. I also wanted it to be durable. Although only time can prove the Atlantis' durability, I'm convinced that with reasonable care, it'll last as long as any other bike. Finally, it's pretty. I like the looks of the older DeRosas, Bianchis, Merckxs, and Paramounts, and the Atlantis can stand up to the best of them. On top of all this, my wife supported a new bike. She knew that this bike was special, and when I brought it home, she exclaimed, "Did you pick all this stuff out yourself? Did you know it was going to look this good? I don't know anything about bikes, and I think its pretty!"

Wow, what aesthetics. Nice fork crown. Also, going with non-indexed downtube shifters is a real "non-conformist" decision as well.
As nice as it looks, the ride is the key (short and especially long run). Low BB, minor difference between saddle and handlebar height, long chainstays, etc.
Thanks for the pic, and I hope you enjoy it for years.

Very Pretty bicycle. The fenders and handlebar wrap are very subtle additions to what looks like a great ride. I hope you get many happy years and miles on it.
