Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. I don't think it's appropriate to advertise such an event outside of your own forum, if your stated desire is to restrict it based on age.

Why not? I read the rec forum (in fact, I was one of the originators of the rec forum) and I might not read the 50+ forum, especially if I am new to BFN.

Seems to me the more info we share the better. Why purposely keep folks in the dark to opportunities?

Goodness. Go take a walk or something,

As long as they meet your age limit.

I think if you are going to use these forums to organize and promote an event, you ought not to be discriminating in any way.

Yeah, I think you know what you can do with that advice.

There are a lot of 50+ folks who don't hang out in the 50+ forum very much. So Dnvr is on the right track by letting everyone on BF know about this event.
