Road Bike Racing - Bald pros

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Bettini, Pantani, Riis, Leiphiemer, and Garzelli come to mind off the top of my head.
I'm sure there are many more that I cannot think of at this moment.
Why are so many pros bald?
Or is it just me? Do people commonly start balding at 25 years old like that?
I don't know, but they all look hot to me. Of course, they are lucky, since otherwise, they'd look either like skinheads or balding baby chickens. Somehow, the ones who do shave just know they look really good when they do it. A bald head on the right guy is pretty baldylicious to me. ;) :D :p

as a member of the bald bicycling community, i appreciate your comments! from the standpoint of riding long distances, long hair gets pretty disgusting and hot under a helmet. i think it must be a (somewhat small) advantage to have a shaved\bald head. it's a few degrees cooler at least...

I have long hair. No helmet though.
I would just shave my head if I would look good with a shaved head. I'm not saying shaved heads look bad... I usually think it looks nice... but it wouldnt on my head! (my scars and head shape) It would be efficient for riding.

I do have to worry soon, however, about the large air vents in my Bell Ghisallo helmet. Sunburn don't you know ;) .
I know what you're saying blueline. I've been getting tractor tire tan patterns on my head the last couple years.

I spent well over a year on their forums and although I appreciate Koffee's comments, I'd still like to have more hair.
It ain't going without a fight though.

Dood, if you're doing the comb-over, let it go! The only person that's getting away with that is Donald Trump, and that's because he's rich and it's part of his image!
Cut it off and let it go!
:D

Me? You talking to me? :)
I keep my hair about 1/2" long all over, almost military style. Looks fine but I really can't wear it much longer without it turning stupid.

agreed. i doubt anyone could do a comb over that would survive a long bike ride anyway. wind is not condusive to a comb over!
