i live in hermosa beach and work about 60% of my time in torrance but am (strongly) considering a move up to the santa monica area. when i'm not working in torrance, i work in areas scattered mostly about the west side of LA. as far as commuting goes, i think i'd rather commute down into the south bay than up into the city ...
thoughts? anyone have experience with commuting similar routes? the train doesn't really service these areas to well (from what i can see,) and i was wondering what my other-than-a-car options may be. i currently ride 8 miles one way from my house to my job (hermosa to torrance, bike commute about 3-4 days/week) but pretty much have to drive when i go up to the westside, and i'll need to be driving up there much more often in the upcoming couple of years.
(i'm also looking into getting a scooter or electric bike ... )
