I'm working on a new bike build that will include the Alfine hub gear but may have hit a snag as the bike is intended to pull the kids in the trailer on the weekends. Does anyone out in BF land know whether I can continue to use the Chariot's EZ Hitch mount that is essentially a hitch attached to a skewer with the hub gear or do you have to use the Alfine skewer for it to work properly? I'm looking at a Cross Check or Karate Monkey build.

I'm not familiar with how gear hubs attach, but maybe this will help. The quick hitch is built to also go under a regular nut, on a solid axle. I've put the hitch on a Trek Mountain Train tag along with a 7 speed rear derailleur, and a solid axle. Works fine.

My wife had no problem swapping out the skewer from her breezer's 8 spd nexus redband (are the redband and alfine different aside from the disc capacity of the alfine?) for a burley trailer hitch skewer.

Ahh, that's good news. Thank you both. I should be in good shape then.
